While I do not consider myself to be someone who has insurmountable sufferings I have definitely have had my share of issues. In 1993 I had a laminectomy at L4-L5 to alleviate sciatica in my left leg. The doctor sent me back to work ( groundskeeper at a cemetery) and I had another laminectomy in 1994 at L5-S1 for the same complaint only in my right leg.
I had to give up my occupation as a groundskeeper and fortunately workers compensation provided me with a computer. A Packard Bell 486sx, which I took apart and upgraded drive and memory within the first year. Eventually after learning about computers and networking, and completing the Cisco Networking Academy in 1999-2000 I passed my CCNA exam and became certified. Since then I have worked in the IT field mostly repairing computer’s, computer based machines and networking. That was from 1994 to 2000.
Now, I am still doing working on computer based machines but due to my age I am facing another change in my life. The pain in my back has increased and spread not only from the Lumbar region but to the Cervical and the Thoracic. Such is degenerative disk disease.
How does one resolve the pain of injury and disease? For those who are Christian and Born Again they may have insight and peace. For those who are not Born Again I would like to point you to this sermon. It not only pertains to physical suffering but all forms of suffering. I am sending this video to a friend who lost his sister from Cancer at an early age and he was devastated by it.
If it was not for my relationship with Jesus Christ I would not have endured all these years. I also look forward to being with him in the very near future.
Pray and ask Jesus to make himself real to you, and in so doing you may see the truth in what I have said.
I am posting a this video from YouTube from Pastor Gary Hamrick from Cornerstone Chapel from the sermon start time.
